Original family recipe developed during Prohibition by Roberto Mares Sr.

The journey began with Roberto Mares Sr.'s bootlegging during Prohibition, a legacy carried forward through his family recipe, first made and sold in local California speakeasies.

1994

Craft passed to Felipe Soto Mares from his father, Roberto Mares Jr.

2005

Felipe becomes the first US-based Catador, elevating the brand's expertise in tequila.


2009

Recognition as Maestro Tequilero, affirming mastery over traditional tequila making.

Success at international spirit competitions, including multiple gold medals.

Darren, a serial entrepreneur with a love for car racing, teams up with Felipe in 2017 and broaden their circle of loyal Amigos who enjoy The Bad Stuff® Tequila–additionally paving the way for new additions, including a Reposado, Blanco, and even a 12-year aged tequila.

Introduction of 'Tequila XII', a 12-year aged ultra-premium expression, acclaimed for its exceptional quality.
